Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Procedures

The patient is positioned on the MRI table that will move into the MRI scanner. The patient is asked to breath normally and lies in a supine position as still as possible, while the images are being acquired.

Each patient is required to answer an MRI safety screening form because of the potentially serious complications from safety issues with interaction of the magnetic field with implanted devices and ferromagnetic objects.

MRI investigation is not possible in the following: Most pacemakers, certain brain aneurysm clips, cochlear implants, metallic fragments in the eye, implanted spinal stimulator, and certain other metal containing implants
